High Protein, High Energy Diet Plan FOOD SPECIFICATION
Bread and Cereals Allowed: Bread (white Bread white and wholemeal), rolls muffins, all breakfast cereals, rice, biscuits, pastry, tinned spaghetti Extra foods can be added to these that are high in protein and /or energy: for example, liberal use of margarine, butter and cream on bread, toast and rice, cheese on biscuits and same on cereal.
Avoid: Nil to avoid Vegetables allowed: All vegetables and salad You can add margarine or butter to the vegetable choice and have roast or fried potato.
Avoid: Nil to avoid Fruit allowed: Fresh fruit, tinned fruit, fruit juices and fruit salad. Avoid: Nil to avoid Meat allowed: Beef, lamb, pork, chicken, fish, tuna and salmon. Avoid: Nil to be avoided Eggs allowed: Eggs cooked in any fashion Avoid: Nil to avoid Milk allowed: Full cream milk, yogurt, and cheese Avoid: Cottage cheese Fats allowed Margarine, salt free margarine, butter, cream, oil Avoid: Nil to avoid Soups allowed: "Cream" soup and the vegetable based soup. Avoid Broths, bonox and clear stock Spreads allowed: Jam, honey, vegemite Avoid: Jam (low joule) unless diabetic Dessert allowed: All desserts are suitable Milk-based dessert such as custard, mousses and yogurt are advised.
Avoid: Nil Condiments allowed: Salt, pepper, tomato sauce, French dressing, lemon juice, gravy, tomato and herb sauce, white sauce and tartare sauce. Avoid: Nil Beverages Allowed: Water, tea, coffee, fruit juices, cordial, milk, milkshakes, supplements such as Ensure Plus, soda and mineral waters, soft drinks. Have nutritious beverages in place of tea and coffee.
Avoid: Nil Miscellaneous Allowed: Sugar, Polycose, lollies, chocolate, nuts. Eat nutritious meals and snacks rather than eating lollies etc in their place.
Sample Diet Plan
Breakfast Tinned fruit with Polycose Porridge with milk, cream and Polycose
1 egg
1 slice of toast with margarine & honey
Glass of milk to drink
Morning Tea 1 can of Ensure Plus Lunch Meat, fish or chicken 2 roast potatoes
1 vegetable serve plus margarine
Afternoon Tea Fruit and custard Cheese and biscuits
Fruit juice
Dinner Cream soup with added cream and Polycose Meat and salad
1 slice of bread with margarine
